Dear KMOTT Member,
Paul Hamlyn – Facing Challenges in Fruit Farming
We are delighted to announce details of our second Winter presentation this season, which takes a completely different view of the world of trees – from the perspective of a commercial top fruit farm in Kent and invite our members and guests to join this event either in person or online.
Talk Commences at 11.00 am
Saturday 15th February 2025
The Lads’ Club, Rectory Lane, Saltwood, Hythe, CT21 4PZ
Paul is fruit production manager at AC Hulme, whose fruit orchards produce all the fruit varieties pictured on the poster and are concentrated around the Canterbury and Wingham area.
As a result of my visits to the farm and from discussions with Paul elsewhere, I am aware that there are changes taking place to maximise the harvest as well as protect the environment as much as possible. The pressure for change comes no doubt from commercial demands, but is also due to the variability of the weather…so how does a production manager respond? I am sure Paul will open our eyes both to the challenges he faces, but also to the solutions that he can choose to adopt…and why.
Please join me on 15th February, in Saltwood to listen to this fascinating presentation.
