KMOTT Invitation to Palmstead Nurseries

We are delighted to announce details of an additional  KMOTT day trip and invite our members to join this excursion.

Travel by car.

Meet at 2.00 pm

Sat 31 August 2024    Palmstead Nurseries, Harville Road, Wye, Ashford TN25 5EU

Car parking on site.                 Refreshments will be provided.            No dogs on site, please.

Palmstead is a significant commercial nursery business based in Kent, which grows and supplies trees and plants on a wholesale basis to customers; this visit gives an insight into the nursery business as a link in the chain of tree supply for planting in this county and elsewhere

We will be hosted by the John Langman, founder and current  Chairman of the business, who will give a short history and describe how the business operates. This will be followed by a walk around the nursery which usually takes about 1 hour.

The whole nursery is 100 acres so we can only cover a relatively small part of it in that time. The route would
generally start at the propagation unit and then go through the nursery to include the potting shed and dispatch shed.

Members joining this visit need to be fairly mobile and wear suitable footwear.

John has requested that we make a charitable donation to “Trees for Life” which is working to stop the Sahara moving ever further south in the Sahel. Such donations are clearly at the discretion of members attending, but I suggest at least £5 per head.  Please transfer to KMOTT bank account,  reference “Palmstead”, or bring cash on the day; we will then transfer the total to Trees for Life.

Please advise if you can attend the above event, preferably by email to admin@kentmenofthetrees.co.uk

Or telephone Denise on 01303 814283 and leave a message

Best Wishes
