The park encompasses a rich and diverse variety of habitats and environments, from formal gardens to ancient woodland, iron-rich mineral chalybeate springs to waterfalls, reservoirs to wild-flower meadows. It covers some 109 acres and is a grade II designated site in the “Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest”. Alexandra Park contains the war memorial, a boating lake, bowls green, expanses of green for football, 5 a side pitches, play areas, tennis courts, miniature railway and a café.
